- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Pour melted butter into a baking dish, coating the base evenly.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add milk (or buttermilk) and mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Spread dough evenly into the buttered baking dish.
- Mix cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle evenly over the dough.
- Score dough lightly into squares.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and bubbling at the edges.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
For extra flavor, use buttermilk instead of regular milk.
Do not reduce butter too much—it creates the signature “swim” texture.
