Ingredients

For the Churro Dough:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 –2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Optional for Serving:
  • Melted chocolate sauce
  • Caramel sauce
  • Nutella or hazelnut spread

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Medium saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Mixing bowl
  • Piping bag with star tip (or zip-top bag)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Parchment paper (optional)
  • Tongs or spoon for coating

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a gentle boil while stirring occasionally.
  2. Add the flour all at once and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a thick dough and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Remove from heat and allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until the dough becomes smooth and glossy.
  5. Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe small bite-sized portions onto a lined tray or directly into the air fryer basket.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease the basket.
  7. Arrange the churro bites in a single layer, leaving space between each piece. Lightly spray with oil.
  8. Air fry for 8–10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. In a separate bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. Toss the warm churro bites in the mixture until evenly coated.
  10. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra crispiness, lightly spray churro bites with oil before air frying.
Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed.
Use a star tip for the classic churro texture and better crisping.
Best enjoyed fresh, but can be reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispness.
Adjust cinnamon levels in the coating based on your flavor preference.
